Acknowledge

We acknowledge the Noongar people as the traditional owners of Whadjuk country, and extend our respects to their elders past and present.

We extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first people of the continent of Australia.

We acknowledge the invasion, atrocities and subsequent acts that traumatise our first people.

Although none of us today are responsible for these acts, we do benefit from the wonderful Australian lifestyle that has been built against this backdrop.

The least we can do is acknowledge the perspective of our first people, honour their ancestors, and encourage the values of our nation ‘We are one, but we are many’.
